CAN I BE YOUR LUCKY CHARM?
Blu is a big, handsome, blue nose pit bull, full of energy and joy. Blu is around one year old, and weighs in at 65 pounds. We don’t know much about Blu’s past as he was found on the street, following a stranger, with his leash trailing behind him. His foster mom was walking another dog when she came across Blu. Her daughter picked up the leash and they brought him home. Blu was then taken to the local animal shelter in the hopes he would be reunited with his owner(s), but that was not to be. The shelter called a few days later, as they were running out of room, and so the kind lady that found him decided to foster him.
Blu is very energetic and loving. When let outside, he zooms around the property, moving incredibly fast for such a large boy. He loves to run and would make an ideal running partner. Blu will happily chase a ball, but doesn’t always want to bring it all the way back to you. He knows “sit” and “no” and is working on “come”, “stay”, and “down”.
According to Blu’s foster mom, he is one of the best leash walkers she has ever had. But you need to keep an eye out for cats as Blu likes to chase them. Blu would do best in a home without cats or dogs. He loves children (the foster family has a 9 year old and 16 year old) and people in general, but due to his size, would probably be best with older children, as he could accidentally knock over smaller kids.
Blu is very treat motivated and learns quickly. With a little time we are sure he has the capacity to easily learn tricks. He also loves to go for rides in the car, and is always on his best behavior, with his paws on the back of the seat, watching the road ahead.
Blu is a very strong willed boy (not to mention very strong!) and needs a real pack leader to help him become the best boy he can be. Blu is a wonderful dog, but needs consistent training and discipline to help him understand what is expected of him. Providing him with affection would be the easiest thing in the world, but discipline and exercise are just as important to ensure he will be a truly happy and well balanced and behaved dog.
Blu is crate and kennel trained, as well as house trained. Blu has been neutered, microchipped, is current on shots and flea preventive, and tested negative for heartworm.
