My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Becker is a calm sweet fellow that is settling into house pet mode. He is timid and finding the new setting different from his past life of neglect. He is sure that he likes the changes, but still finds the interactions with people a little daunting. He is very comfortable with his canine siblings and does not show aggression towards them for any reason. He waits patiently when meals and treats are handed out and never snaps even if one of the other dogs tries to take his share. There is not an aggressive bone in his body. He is also very patient when he gets his ear medication, and doesn’t try to wiggle away or bite the caregiver. He just stands quietly to receive the ointment. Becker does have a small polyp in his right ear that increases the chances of a yeast infection, and so needs the ointment regularly. He is otherwise a healthy fellow. When he arrived in rescue, he had his teeth cleaned and several removed, but he came through the surgery with flying colors and has been a happy fellow ever since. Becker doesn’t bark much, but he does like to dig a little for entertainment when left on his own. He doesn’t chew on things too often, but I think he would enjoy a plush toy or two to carry around with him. He doesn’t get that opportunity here since his canine siblings destroy plush toys in 5 seconds flat. Becker would like to settle into a quiet home with loving parents. He has the potential to be a good companion if given the chance. It will not be an instant transformation when he moves in, but more of a gradual transition for Becker as he learns that his new home will take care of him and offer him unconditional love. He will respond to gentle care with gratitude and devotion. Becker is doing well with his house training, is comfortable in a crate, uses a dog door, walks well on a leash and generally comes when called. He would benefit from obedience training which would also offer him an opportunity to bond with his human. He still has some trust issues with people, and these we believe are based in his past experiences. Since he is so docile, time and caring interactions could work through these issues so that Becker could finally be comfortable and peaceful with his new family. Please give Becker some consideration as your next best friend.
