Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Sasha" is a beautiful, 3-yo, soon to be spayed female GSD who is very sweet but also very timid. She is clearly more comfortable with women than men, and was likely abused by a man. Sasha is affectionate with her female foster caretaker but avoids the male foster caretaker--even though their three other dogs totally trust and play with him. She is very good w/ her foster caretakers' two 2-yo children. (Click for picture of Sasha w/ the two children here.) Sasha is very nervous around new people, though her female foster caretaker is working to help her overcome her fear by exposing her to environments with strangers. such as bringing her inside the pet store.
Sasha is great with other dogs. She currently lives w/ three other dogs (two females and a male), and they helped draw her out of her shell when she was first brought to her foster home. We do not know how Sasha does w/ cats, so I will only consider a home without cats for her. Sasha is a medium-sized GSD and weighs 60-65 lbs.
Sasha is housetrained and very well-behaved inside. She is good on a leash and is responsive to a few basic commands such as "sit" and "off." She rides calmly in a car.
Sasha needs a home with a female caretaker who is very patient and willing to help her overcome her timidness. A home with another dog would be best, but that's not a requirement.
GSRSV rescued Sasha from the Tracy shelter on 7-26-13, and she went directly to a foster home in Brentwood, where she is located now. Sasha is scheduled to be spayed on August 15. Her adoption fee is $250.
