My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Update** All of Teagan's funds have been raised, thanks to many generous donations. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home!

Teagan is a 7 pound Japanese Chin mix sitting in a kill shelter. She is about 2-3 years old and was found as a stray. We desperately want to get her out, since the shelter needs to make room by "emptying kennels". But, Teagan needs help. Her teeth appear healthy and fine, but her tongue hangs out the side of her mouth due to a severe underbite. We think it is SUPER adorable! She also has one bad eye. While the shelter staff thought it was likely just a cataract, the visiting shelter vet says it is likely due to an old injury. Regardless, we do not think it is a functioning eye. To top it all off, Teagan is heartworm positive.

A dog with one bad eye, tongue hanging out, and heartworm positive in a full kill shelter doesn't have a whole lot of adopters lining up to save her. We were torn at which dogs to save and which dogs we would inevitably have to turn away. But, how could we leave her there? Look at that face! We couldn't afford to save her though.

Until now.

Some very determined supporters are bound to save her life. So, we have started this fundraiser for Teagan. Please share her story. Once we have enough to get her fully vetted, we will take her from the shelter and put her in a foster home until she gets her "forever".

Teagan was originally named Rosie, but we felt she needed a stronger name.... a name with meaning. Teagan is the Irish form of the Welsh name "Tegwin" which means "beautiful." Yes, her tongue hangs out. Yes, one of her eye probably doesn't function. And yes, she is heartworm positive. But to us, she was the very first one that we saw in the entire shelter. We were immediately drawn to her uniqueness, her quirkiness---her beauty. SHE is worth saving.
