My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet adoptable King Julian! He a 1 year old Husky / Collie cross who loves to play and run and do all the fun things huskies like to do. He is being given up by his family because they love him enough to see that he deserves more time and attention than they are able to give him. Like most huskies, Julian wants to be outside and be active as much as possible. He is great off-leash, and has always had free range of his back yard, so he really needs to have a lot of open space to run around in. Julian is also an affectionate family dog and loves children* – he has lived his whole life with a toddler and has shown that he is a very loving and patient family member -- but he is very shy of new people and will need training to help him learn that strangers are not so scary. No experience with cats, but based on his first reaction to them, we expect that he will not be good with them. Julian plays well with an older dog he’s lived with his whole life, and seems submissive, although he has shown a reactive defensiveness to some dogs as well. This may be in part due to the fact that he hasn’t been neutered yet, though he will be before going into his new foster or forever home. He would do best as an only dog or with another friendly, submissive dog, in a quiet home with a large yard. To learn to direct his puppyish-energy appropriately, he will need some training by an experienced dog owner with enough time to get him adequate exercise and socialization, and the patience and knowledge to correctly guide him into adulthood. Julian seems eager to please his person and wants to be a good boy. He is currently quite insecure and timid, but when he’s feeling relaxed with his family, he is a sweet and loving dog. He has a ton of potential and just hasn’t had the opportunity to realize it!
