My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Memphis & I am a 10 yr. old, 37 lb. beagle boy that recently found myself without a home. I gave my previous owners 10 years of love and devotion and expected that I would spend the remainder of my days with them. Unfortunately, things don’t always work out the way that we expect them to work out. I found this out first hand when I ended up at a noisy shelter in New York City. My previous owners said that I was surrendered due to a medical issue in the family. They said all these wonderful things about me to the staff, and then they left me at the shelter. I’m sure it was hard for them, but it was hard for me, too. Despite my confusion over the situation, I finally realized there was nothing I could do about it, so I gave myself a pep talk and put on my happy face & my wagging tail. It really wasn’t difficult for me to be happy; it is just in my nature.

I’m not sure how long I sat at the shelter, but I’m sure my time there was running out. Many people rallied around me and worked very hard to get me out of there. I was overjoyed when Penny Angels stepped up and agreed to rescue me and help me to find a new home. When I arrived at Penny Angels, my tail was wagging so much that they had to hold me still in order to take my picture!!

I am house trained & have already learned how to use the doggie door in Rescue. I am crate trained, too; I actually spent 8-10 hours a day in a crate in my previous home, but I have to admit, I enjoy being able to spend most of my time OUT of the crate now!

I get along well with kids, adults, dogs & cats, which means that I would fit in well with any family! I may be an older gentleman, but I still act like a puppy sometimes! In this second phase of my life, I would love to find a home with someone who truly wants to share their life with me… I promise to give you all my love, happiness & tail wags in return!
