Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet sweet, quiet Selma. She is about 1 year old. Selma is a darling little girl, weighing in at 56 pounds. When first rescued from the shelter, this poor Lab was terrified and would hit the dirt with any quick movements or loud noises. It has taken some time, but her sense of self has blossomed. Selma loves to be petted and touch "nose to nose" with her people.
Selma loves all other dogs and does not shy away from any friendly person. She is fully housebroken and will even get up to the alarm and head out the dog door to potty all by herself. She is always quick to return, so that she can greet you with her sunny, happy morning smile as soon as the snooze has been turned off.
Selma quickly adjusted to the routine in her foster home. Originally afraid of the crate, she will now go in happily, as long as there are treats involved. When everyone else is jumping around for meals, Selma politely waits until invited in. Shelby takes treats very gently, with a soft Labrador mouth.
Selma will only bark if it is warranted by the usual door bell, trash man or yard guy. She loves to go outside and just lay in the sun and chew on a great peanut butter filled bone.
Selma would do well in a household that is on the quiet side. She does love children. She might adapt to a home with older kids. Selma does not have one ounce of aggression in her personality, but holds her own with larger dogs.
Selma loves to be around her people and would do well with a household that would include her in their daily activities. She knows sit and will come when she is called in from the yard. She could use the bonding that a basic obedience class would provide but it must be one that provides positive reinforcement.
Selma is living with a wonderful foster mom in Granbury. We will schedule a meeting with applicants, once your application is approved.
