for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Lola's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, not good with kids, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Lola's Story...
Meet Lola! She is a 9-pound, spayed female, funny and friendly little schipperke who loves people. She is about 3-4 years old. She is housetrained. Lola loves to take walks, play in the yard and go for car rides. She would make a great pet for an older couple or single person. She is not too sure about kids or other dogs and she is not good with cats. Lola is happy and healthy, always smiling. She is blind in one eye, but nothing gets her down. She has a happy, go-lucky personality and just wants someone to love for life. Lola is a wonderful lapdog. Adoption fee: $75. Adopt a pair: $115. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, neuter and microchip. Apply between now and Dec. 31 to receive half-off the adoption fee for black-colored pets.

Adoption and Foster Care Application

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lola, a Troy Schipperke dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schipperke for sale in Troy, or seeking a Schipperke dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schipperke breeders who help with Schipperke rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
