Rescue FAQs

James River Greyhounds is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding responsible, caring homes for retired racing greyhounds. Since 1989, we have found "forever homes" for more than 1200 greyhounds - and counting! We are now partnered with Greyt Love Retirement (GLR) to bring even more greyhounds into the region! GLR provides a shelter to foster greyhounds while they await their forever homes.

All Adoptions Include:
Spay or neuter (including vet exam)
Heartworm blood test and prevention
Rabies vaccination
DHPPC vaccination
Dental care
Thorough deworming with Drontal Plus
Flea & tick preventative
Ears cleaned, nails clipped & groomed
Transportation from track kennel to Richmond
Adoption Kit with the following:
Martingale collar and matching 6 foot lead - designed specifically for sighthounds
Track muzzle, dental kit
Toy & compressed rawhide bone
