Rescue FAQs

Michigan Sheltie Rescue is a non profit, volunteer organization that helps homeless or abandoned Shelties. Each sheltie is treated for any medical problems and then spayed or neutered, brought current on all shots, wormed, treated for fleas and ticks, heartworm tested and started on preventative medication, started on flea prevention medicine, and groomed. All shelties are then screened and adopted into safe, loving homes.

Additional adoption info

Please read all the Adoption Information at michigansheltierescue.net An application form is the first step in the adoption process. It helps us to try to match the proper dog with the proper home. Not all shelties will "fit" into every home. Vet references are checked. In most cases, we require a fenced area. There are some exceptions made for certain dogs. We require that you come to visit the sheltie in the foster home. This may seems like a lot of work to go through but we take responsibility for every dog that comes to us for the rest of it's life.
