Rescue FAQs

We are an all volunteer, all breed canine rescue organization. We operate as a 501(C)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving animals, who are going to be euthanized, and placing them in foster homes until we can get them adopted. All animals are given their shots, heartworm tests and preventative , flea preventative, micro-chipped and are spayed/neutered before adoption takes place.

If you are interested in any of our dogs, please go to our website, rainbowanimalrescue.net and fill out an adoption application.
We serve all Hampton Roads cities in Virginia, but we can serve any state, if necessary.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. The application can be accessed by visiting our website at http://www.rainbowanimalrescue.net.
  2. Interview
    1. Your references will be contacted as well as your vet. Please let each party know that we will be contacting them.
  3. Home Check
    1. If your references and vet check meet our requirements, we will proceed to the home visit. The dog of your interest will accompany us.
  4. Approve Application
    1. Once the above steps are completed satisfactorily, a contract will be prepared and we will complete the adoption process

Additional adoption info

The fee is $175.00 over 7 months and $200.00 under 7 months. We complete a home check, vet check and reference check, and a background check for pits and pit mixes. We are not a first-come, first-served organization. We only adopt our animals to the best possible home for the individual animal.
