Areas A Home Away From Home serves
We are a foster home based dog rescue group located in Southeastern Indiana. We require potential adopters to travel to us to meet the dog they are interested in. We take in dogs from anywhere and from all sorts of situations, such as from shelters, from families who can't keep their dog, from vet offices, etc.

Potential adopters complete our adoption application. We review the application and verify vet references. If the application is acceptable and seems to be a good match for the dog in our care, we contact the potential adopter to gather more information and to answer any questions about the dog and/or the process. If everything is acceptable on both sides, we schedule an adoption appointment. If at the appointment everyone agrees it's a good match, the family can sign the adoption application, pay the adoption fee, and take the dog home with them.

There are many dogs in our area who are never adopted - we will not take a chance that someone we adopt out with reproduce, making the pet over population problem even worse. The dogs in our care live in our homes with us which enables us to know them better, hopefully then making a better match with a family. They are also housetrained and crate trained that way, or at least beginning the processes, if necessary.

Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
