Shelter FAQs

We are the Etowah Valley Humane Society in Cartersville, GA. Located about 40 miles north of Atlanta. EVHS is a non profit corporation licensed in the State of GA. Our operating funds come from our adoptions fees, memberships, donations and fundraising efforts. We are not supported by any local, state or federal agency. Our Society exists for the purposes of preventing cruelty to, relieving the suffering of and providing humane treatment for animals in need. Our main goal is to find permanent lifetime homes for the animals in our care.
We only intake animals from our local animal control facility in Cartersville but we adopt out all over Georgia and many surrounding states.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $199 includes Heartworm test and prevention, Vaccines, Deworming, Flea/Tick treatment, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Rabies vaccine, and a certificate for an initial health exam at a participating veterinary clinic.

Cats: $150 includes Combo test, Vaccines, Deworming, Flea/Tick treatment, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Rabies vaccine, and a certificate for an initial health exam at a participating vet.

We do require an adoption application to be filled out. You must provide all information requested on the application. References and veterinary info will be checked. Please note that if you have other animals in your home we do require that all of them be spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations.
