About EGAPL Heart of RI

We are a volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill shelter and rely mainly on donations to stay in business. Since the Town of East Greenwich does not have a pound, a small number of us volunteer our time to take in stray and abandoned local animals, as well as dogs rescued from high-kill Southern shelters. Our animals receive an examination, initial vaccines, spaying/neutering, and medical care if needed.

Come Meet EGAPL Heart of RI's Pets

*PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO STRINGENT OUT OF STATE HEALTH CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS WE ARE NOW ONLY ADOPTING TO RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS*. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are open every Wednesday 3-7pm, Thursday/Friday 12-2pm or Saturday 10am-2pm for adoption hours. Applications must be completed in order to walk through the facility and are supplied on site.

Please note that adoptions are not on a first-come, first-serve basis but are based on the best match for each animal. Due to the volume of potential adopters, please allow for time to review completed applications which might take several days. For more information about our cats and dogs, please visit HEARTOFRI.org
