Areas Norman Animal Welfare Serves

As a municipal shelter we primarily serve the City of Norman, OK. We also work with the University of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma State Parks, and other local agencies when they are in need of assistance.

Norman Animal Welfare's Adoption Process

Adoption fee for all animals is $50.00.

Our adoptable dogs and cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworms, are microchipped, have a one year City of Norman pet license, and have received a medical exam.

Our animals are available at our facility on a first come first served basis. While very rare, occasional exceptions are made for livestock and animals receiving significant inquiry due to specific breed demands.

About Norman Animal Welfare

Norman Animal Welfare is a municipal shelter operated and funded by the City of Norman, Oklahoma. In addition to providing a safe environment for our adoptable animals we also are responsible for the enforcement of all animal related laws within the City of Norman and holding all stray animals that are located. In addition to these main roles, we also provide pubic microchipping, city pet licensing, and other educational services to our community.
We do not euthanize any animals based on their length of time in the shelter. The only animals we euthanize are those that are too ill, injured, or have significant behavioral problems that make them unsafe for adoption. Cats that are determined to be unsafe for adoption but are otherwise healthy are provided to local partner agencies that screen them for entry into local barn cat programs.
We average approximately 3,000 animals in and out of our facility each year. We have an amazing facility that fully opened in 2016. We operate daily with a very limited staff supported by several amazing volunteers. We operate an active foster program and are always seeking to work with those in our community interested in assisting us in our mission.

We are located at 3428 Jenkins Ave.
Just south of State Highway 9 and Jenkins Ave.

Our adoption facility is open Monday through Friday between 10:00 A.M and 5:30 P.M. and on Saturdays from 10:00 A.M until 4:00 P.M.

We are closed on Sundays, City holidays, and the second Wednesday of each month.
