Despite his name, Rocket isn’t always fast-paced—he can also be calm, mellow, and loves taking life at a comfortable stroll. Whether you’re looking for a quiet companion for relaxed evenings or a loyal friend to join you on laid-back adventures, Rocket is your guy.
If you’re ready for a steady, loving companion who will adore you with his whole heart… come meet Rocket today. He’s been waiting for you.

Norman Animal Welfare is a municipal shelter operated and funded by the City of Norman, Oklahoma. In addition to providing a safe environment for our adoptable animals we also are responsible for the enforcement of all animal related laws within the City of Norman and holding all stray animals that are located. In addition to these main roles, we also provide public microchipping, city pet licensing, and other educational services to our community.
We average approximately 3,400 animals in and out of our facility each year. We have an amazing facility that fully opened in 2016. We operate daily with a very limited staff supported by several amazing volunteers. We operate an active foster program and are always seeking to work with those in our community interested in assisting us in our mission.
