Shelter FAQs

Haven Humane Society supports the community by promoting the humane treatment of animals through sheltering, spay/neuter, adoption, community education, outreach, rescue, and animal regulations. Haven Humane Society’s vision is of a community of responsible pet owners working together for a North State with no more homeless pets.
Haven Humane Society serves all of Shasta County. We provide adoptions, low-cost spay and neuter surgeries, microchipping, dog licensing, and lost and found services.

Adoption fees vary based on the age of the animals.

Puppies under 6 months: $135
Kittens under 6 months: $75

Dogs 6 months to 4 years: $75
Cats 6 months to 4 years: $50

Dogs 4 years to 6 years: $37.50
Cats 4 years to 6 years: $25

Dogs and cats over 6 years: $0

Some of the animals' adoption fees have been sponsored by animal lovers or discounted for special circumstances such as for pets that have had longer shelter stays.

Renters must have landlord approval. An adoption application is required and a dog introduction is required for dog adoptions into homes with other dogs.
