Beacon Animal Rescue is a small no-kill shelter located in Upper Township, Cape May County. We have adopted our pets to mostly southern New Jersey residents and some to out of state.

An application must be completed for adoption of one of our pets. The application asks adopters to provide a vet reference and personal references. A home check may be done if deemed necessary, usually for first time pet owners. Our adoption fee of $175.00 for dogs over 1 year old, $250.00 for puppies, and $75.00 for kittens and cats.
All of our pets are adopted up to date with their vaccinations, micro-chipped and registration of the micro-chip for the life of the pet. We also offer assistance with basic training issues for the life of the dog as part of the adoption fee. All pets are neutered/spayed or if they are too young they are fostered with the adoptive family until this has been completed.

We feel that since all of our volunteers have a desire to be helping animals, they are special people who show special care for each and every one of our animals. When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
