Mission
A New Beginning Animal Rescue is a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue organization serving Ogden, Layton, and Roy, Utah. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of abused, abandoned, and homeless cats, dogs, puppies, kittens, and rabbits who need of a new beginning and help prepare them for a forever home, through rescue, nurture, and adoption efforts. We believe that euthanasia should be used only as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering.

We envision a future in which communities do not consider pets as disposable items and embrace their responsibilities as compassionate, responsible guardians and protectors to companion animals.
Goals
Our goal is to thoughtfully reduce unnecessary euthanasia rates; help change the "throw-away" mentality and improve Weber and Davis Counties’ animal welfare with compassion and respect through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of responsible pet parenting; importance of pet sterilization, and the humane treatment of animals.
We strive to ensure that each and every animal rescued by ANBAR is cared for; treated with compassion, respect, and dignity. The health and welfare of the animals that come to us is our priority. All animals receive a medical evaluation; fully vaccinated; and, if old enough and at least 3 lbs. are spayed and neutered before adoption. Any health problems detected are taken care of immediately. Because we want to ensure that all of the animals in our care go to good homes, we ask to meet with each prospective adoptive candidate. This allows us to thoughtfully decide if the animal is a proper match for you. We reserve the right to turn down applicants for pets if we feel that it is not in the animal’s best interest.
While we are located in the Roy,Layton,Ogden, UT area, we also partner with local and regional groups and accept transfer rescues from throughout northern Utah and the surrounding states. ANBAR does not turn away any companion animal but welcomes them regardless of their condition and do not place a time limit on their stay with us. We believe that euthanasia should be used only as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering – such as when an animal is terminally ill, critically injured, or dying.
A New Beginning Animal Rescue embraces a multi-prong strategic service approach to contribute to reach our goal of reducing the number of adoptable animals euthanized each year. Our services include:
Adoption opportunities and events for ANBAR companion animals
Spay/neuter of ANBAR animals, to effectively reduce the problems of pet overpopulation
Veterinary care for ANBAR animals
Volunteer foster care program to provide housing for rescued or surrendered companion animals, until a qualified forever home is found

n general, our adoption fees are as follows:
Kittens (4 months and younger): $85. Adopt a second kitten at the same time for $65
Cats (4 months and over): $85.00. Our adoption fees may be reduced based on Cat's age and special needs.
Puppies (6 months and younger): $195.00
Dogs (6 months and over): $165. Our adoption fees may be reduced based on Dog's age and special needs.
Rabbits: $25
ALSO, to safely transport your pet home:
Kittens and Cats: $5 for temporary cat carrier*
Rabbits: $5 for temporary pet carrier*
Puppies and Dogs: a leash and collar. These items may be purchased in advance or at the time of adoption at Petco.
*This is waived if transport items are purchased in advance or at the time of adoption at Petco, and presented at time of adoption.

Please Note: (1) A New Beginning Animal Rescue does not accept personal checks for adoption fees. We do accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover.
(2) In the event that a pet is adopted without being surgically sterilized, a sterilization deposit and written sterilization agreement are required to ensure that the animal is sterilized in a timely manner, within 30 days after the agreement is signed. A sterilization deposit of $25 will be added to the adoption fee and held until veterinarian confirmation is received that the surgery was completed. The deposit is refundable to the adopter if proof of sterilization is presented to ANBAR not more than three months after the date the animal was sterilized. (Utah Animal Shelter Pet Sterilization Act (Primary Citation: U.C.A. 1953 § 11-46-201 – 208)
HOW TO ADOPT
We are always happy to learn of a potential forever home for one of our rescued companion animals. Our volunteer Adoption Team works very hard to match each of our rescued pets with the most appropriate family in the hopes that each new home will be a happy and permanent one.
A New Beginning Animal Rescue’s (ANBAR) adoption services are limited to the Weber and Davis Counties in Utah and encompass the following telephone area codes: 801 and 385. If you live outside of our service area, please contact another rescue organization nearer your home.
If you are interested in adopting a pet from ANBAR and live in one of our service areas, please contact us for a copy of our Pre-Adoption Questionnaire. Please include a telephone number where you may be reached. Please email us at adoptions@anbrescue.org.
The following is a summary of our guidelines.
Adoption Guidelines. You must:
Be 18 years of age or older to adopt;
Complete a Pre-Adoption Questionnaire;
Complete an Adoption Agreement. Keep in mind that completing an Adoption Agreement means you understand that all adoption fees are non-refundable;
Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and proper care for a pet;
Meet with ANBAR's Executive Director or Adoptions Coordinator prior to adoption.
Additionally,
Two forms of identification are required. A government issued photo ID (driver's license, state identification card, military ID, etc.) and proof of current address. (A telephone, utility or cable television bill qualifies).
Renters must provide their landlord’s name and phone number, or a copy of the lease. If you are a Renter, be sure to check your rental policy relevant to pet ownership to avoid any landlord concerns.
You may be asked to provide two personal references, reachable by telephone.
All adult members of the household should be present or in agreement with the selection.
All adopters understand that every adult pet in our program is spayed or neutered prior to adoption; kittens and puppies are spayed/neutered upon reaching 3 lbs but no later than 4 months of age.
All adopters understand our unaltered puppies and kittens are adopted out with the provision that ownership of the puppy or kitten does not transfer from ANBAR to the adopter until after the kitten or puppy has been sterilized.
Adopters understand that in the event that a kitten or puppy is adopted without undergoing sterlization surgery, a steriliation deposit of $25 and a sterilization agreement are required, to ensure that the pet will be sterilized by a private veterinarian with whom ANBAR has an agreement, within 30 days from signing the agreement. The deposit is refunded after the adopter presents proof from their veterinarian that the puppy/kitten has been sterilized within the appropriate time limit in accordance with the signed agreement.
All adopters agree that the Adopted Animal will not be subjected to any cosmetic surgery, including, but not limited to, ear cropping and tail docking; will not be subjected to declawing or devocalization.
All adopters agree that the Adopted Animal will be treated humanely; will not be used for any inhumane purpose; will not be used for any experimental purpose; food; and will not be sold.
All adopters agree that the Adopted Animal ill not be used for any illegal purpose, including, but not limited to, dog fighting.
All adopters will accept and consider the pet as a household indoor companion, not as an outside pet.
If you have children younger than 5 years, and do not already have a dog in your home, understand that adding a dog or cat will be like adding a permanent 2 year old to your responsibilities. For this reason, we will only place our pets in homes with children younger than 5 on a case-by-case basis.
ANBAR strongly encourages continued socialization and formal obedience training for all dogs under the age of eight.
All adopters understand that the pet has been microchipped and that the viability of that microchip must be checked at least yearly. Adopters further agrees that ANBAR will always be listed as alternate or primary contact on the registration of the microchip and that adopter is responsible for keeping the registration current and active.
For the safety of the pet, all adopters agree to take him/her home with a leash and collar (dogs and puppies) or in a carrier (cats, kittens, and rabbits). These items may be purchased in advance or at the time of adoption at Petco. Temporary cardboard carriers (one animal per carrier) are available for purchase from ANBAR, $5.
Adopters understand that all animals have been thoroughly checked by our veterinarians, ANBAR cannot guarantee the health of any animal.
