Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with our adoption application that must be submitted and filled in completely to be considered for approval. If an application appears to be a match for the particular dog or puppy, we arrange a phone interview. Once the phone interview takes place and we feel that it is a good match, we arrange for a meet and greet IF the dog is fostered in the northeast, but not many are. After that, references are checked and you will be contacted via email that you've been approved for adoption. At this time the adoption contract and the link to pay the adoption fee will be sent to you. Upon approval of application, the adoption fee will be due. At this time we take payment directly to our vet or to our paypal account.

The pre adopt questionnaire that you submit, can take up to 5 business days to process, depending on the volume of applications.
Our volunteer team work full time jobs, that being said, at times weekends are the best time for applicants to be contacted. We make every attempt to let you know the status of your application.
We do not base our approval on a first come first serve basis. We place each dog/pup best suited for your family.

You may be approved but Puppy may have already had another approved adopter. We constantly save puppies and dogs from high kill shelters here in Georgia, so your future Rescue may not be in Rescue if the pup you applied for has been adopted. We do have a waiting list you can be added on for specific breed etc.

We are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization. Your patience is appreciated. You may also contact our director who runs the rescue in Georgia for any questions you may have.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Thomson, GA.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
