Jefferson is a wonderful 3-year-old white and tan Shih-Tzu who was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter. He was severely matted, had discharge from both eyes and was riddled with ticks. On the side of his neck was a healed wound that had healed with contraction of the skin. His life up to this point was one of obvious neglect and malnutrition. Yet he won everybody's heart with his sweet nature and fun-loving attitude. At the shelter he received a much needed haircut, bath and tick treatment and he was neutered. He then came to a Mini Mighty Mutts foster home and a wonderful veterinarian diagnosed Jefferson's eye condition as KCS or "dry eye" and prescribed an appropriate and effective treatment. His eyes are all healed now but the scarring will remain visible. Jefferson will need prescription eye drops for his condition for the rest of his life.
He is a very sweet, playful dog who gets along great with other dogs of similiar size and temperament. He is now looking for his own family, possibly with older, respectful children. He would make a great companion for individuals, couples or families as long as there is playtime as well as snuggle time. Jefferson is housebroken but has not yet tried out a doggy door. He is crate trained and in his foster home he even eats his meals in his crate! He loves to go for walks exploring all the sights and sounds on a harness and a leash.
