My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Jeri and Meri were found, they were essentially feral. They were hiding under a shipping container they had adopted as their home. It is unknown how long they were living there, as the property was only visited by the owners sporadically. When the landowners found them, it took quite a while to coax them out into the open where they were eventually trapped. Both were very skinny, dehydrated and terrified of people. And both are still very wary and untrusting of new people and new situations.  On occasion, both dogs still nip their rescuers when they are stressed or excited.  This is not to say that they would not warm up to other people.  But it will take a 'dog-savvy' person with great patience, love and a very calm, low activity home. Once the level of trust is earned, either Jeri or Meri would be a sweet companion and friend.

Meri and Jeri will NOT be good with seniors, children or cats because of their unpredictability and their terrier tendencies. They should probably be adopted separately in order to fully bond with the new owner(s).

Jeri is neutered, vaccinated and on Heartworm preventative. Meri is spayed, vaccinated, and on Heartworm preventative. You can speak to his foster parents to learn more by calling 662-342-9448 or emailing: info@desotoanimalrescue.org

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of unwanted, abandoned, and abused pets, giving them a second chance at a loving forever home. All animals taken in receive necessary medical care, vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are not a shelter with a facility where you can visit our pets. All rescued pets live in our own homes, where they are evaluated and cared for until they find their ideal adoptive family. We carefully screen prospective homes and require all applicants to go through an adoption application process.

We are not affiliated with the Desoto County Animal Shelter or any governmental agency. We do not receive any taxpayer funds. We operate solely on donations and the revenue we generate from fundraising events. 100% of our incoming funds go directly towards the care of our animals and to pay our vet bills. All other expenses are paid for by our own volunteers.
