Do you enjoy napping? Leisurely strolls around the block? So does Bubba! This mature fella is overdue finding a loving, cozy, indoor retirement home of his own. Handsome Bubba is a 12 year old (DOB: 9/11/2013) Labrador mix with a short haired jet black coat sprinkled with gray. He recently had a playday at Le Chateau Pet Resort where he won the hearts of staff with his sweetness. They reported he loved getting pampered in their spa and spending time outside with their staff. They said Bubba really enjoyed walking around in the sun, but his favorite thing to do was nap, and he would really love to be your TV watching partner. Staff at our shelter think Bubba may want a pool, which also makes him a very happy boy; he could be your partner if you love laying by a pool and relaxing. Bubba is a sweet boy who really enjoys spending time with people, and would undoubtedly thrive in a home as an only child. Bubba will also need a secure fence in his new home. The adoption fee for cats/dogs is $100.00. This includes spaying or neutering, deworming, all required vaccinations and microchipping.

More about this shelter

The Amarillo SPCA is a 501(c)3 non profit organization. We operate solely on donations and fundraisers.

Presently, we operate a shelter for dogs and cats. We have approximately 100 animals housed at the shelter and in foster care.

One of our main concerns is pet over population. It is important that the public be educated about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. It is also our goal to make sure every animal that is adopted from the SPCA is sterilized before going to a new home.

We receive calls daily from people who request help with their animals--either needing to give them up or asking for help with food and medical needs. We help whenever we can, but financially we're not able to help often.

We have grown to the extent that volunteers alone cannot provide necessary hours for operating the kennels. We have a shelter manager and other part time employees for the care of the animals and maintenance of our facility.

Costs for our facility include payroll for these employees, good quality food for the animals, heat and air conditioning, medical treatment for sickness or injury. Additional costs for the animals always include vaccinations, deworming, microchipping and sterilization before leaving the shelter to go to new homes. Our vet bills are high and frequently expenses are far more than the adoption fee of $100. Therefore donations are hugely appreciated! We look forward to your contribution and particularly to your interest in one of our dogs or cats as a permanent companion.
