My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

OPI
Born May 10, 2014, Male, Maine Coon Mix

COURTESY POST: Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

This boy is as good a kitty as they come. He is a big teddy bear and an absolute lover. Loverboy may be a great nickname for him. He loves to be loved and petted. He is an active boy who loves the cheap little mice toys he can chase all around the house. He loves to climb, so a cat tree is going to be important for him. He loves sitting in open windows and doors, looking through the screens. When he feels up to it, he is the only kitty in the home that uses the “One Fast Cat” cat wheel.

To continue on the love trail, he loves to sleep on hardwood floors and enjoys curling up next to his humans. He also loves his pretty girlfriend, Jema, and he actually will place himself in between her and the wild kitties (a Bengal and a Savannah) of the house. So that brings us to the reason for why we have him on our website trying to find him and Jema a new loving home.

When his current owners adopted Opi, they were hoping that their 1 year old Bengal would enjoy a playmate. They were told at that time that given Opi's size (13 lbs.), the Bengal would have reservation playing rough with him. Well, it turns out that was a wrong assumption. Their Bengal likes to play rough, and since sweet, poor Opi doesn’t have a mean or rough bone in his body, he pretty much gets beaten up by the dominant Bengal boy.

Opi is nothing but a softy bear; he is all about head-butts, purrs, and licking. He's been known to pounce up onto his current owner’s chests around the time their alarm clock goes off to reward them with a little face licking in show of his appreciation and affection, but that’s the extend of his pouncing . Because of this stressful situation, sweet Opi is currently sleeping with one eye open and will sleep in a box or an “out-of-clear site” location.

Opi has not been around dogs, so we don’t know how he would do with them. He will probably be great with cat savvy children. Opi prefers the indoors, though at his current home he does have access to an enclosed outside patio.

He is a healthy boy, very efficient in cleaning himself. He likes to be brushed, he gets some Greenies for Hairball control, and he is litterbox perfect. He is all around a sweet, perfect companion kitty.

If you would like more information about this sweet and loving boy, please contact Frauke at 925-784-8244 or loveallcats7@gmail.com or send an Adoption Application.
Please note that Opi is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with his current owner in San Jose, CA while being placed in his new home.
