Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SWEET, SWEET BUTCH!! Butch's story is just one of many heartbreakers. We only know a part of what has happened in his life. We know he was taken from his mom and siblings too soon and we know he was tied up with a wire or coat hanger at some point. The scar around his neck has healed but I'm sure the trauma remains. Then he was left in Houston in a backyard to drown during Hurricane Harvey. He was rescued by a group of dedicated volunteers who were in boats searching for dogs in danger. Butch was heartworm positive, too, but has now been treated and is very healthy.
Luckily for Butch, his rescuer was very committed and dedicated to him. Butch spent two months with a behaviorist with fabulous results and has made dramatic improvements. He has learned to be a happy dog, But some things remain and will always be with him.
Butch needs a quiet, structured home with adults only. No other animals, no children. No exceptions. This is not because he is aggressive -- far from it. Butch is extremely affectionate and wants to please. It is because he is fearful of quick movements and too much noise and energy. Surprisingly, Butch has not shown any storm fearfulness, per se.
Our dream home for Butch would be an "early retired" couple or single person looking for a faithful and loving companion. Butch loves to take walks, but generally prefers to be a homebody and feel secure.
Please help us find the perfect home for this beautiful, sweet, deserving boy.
