Brogan needs a forever home....he has been waiting a long time. In his foster home he is always ready for whatever comes his way. His foster mom works with him so he feels comfortable and safe in all situations. He shares his life with two confident female cattle dogs. They have shown him much of what having his own family would be like. Few things make him uncomfortable and he is content to watch from a close distance. He is offered inclusion in everything but his choices are respected. This can also include his personal space where Brogan will ask for affection when he is ready.

Mealtime and walks are his two favorite things to do. When he knows it is time to eat he will excitedly go to his bowl and sit, waiting for his food. When he knows it is time for a walk, he will wait patiently while his collar and harness are put on then eagerly head out the door. Brogan walks well on leash, with lots of stops to smell, keeping a good pace for multiple miles. He particularly likes cooler weather and snow is his favorite....sliding down the yard on his stomach. The hot weather is hard on him and care needs to be taken he does not overheat. In the air conditioning is where he heads after being outside for a bit.

Proper introductions are a must whenever he meets another person or dog. He will be quick to let you know when something is up. A fenced yard would give him off leash time to explore, play and just chill while still being safe. Because of his size, an adult only home is preferred. Cats are curiosities he can't keep himself from. As far as riding in a car goes, he needs to be tethered in the back seat as he likes to try to drive.

Brogan will need a very strong and considerate, proactive owner. One who reads a dog's body language and acts appropriately. Someone who will allow Brogan his space and let him be the best he can be. Someone he can trust to keep him safe and cared for. He seems to levitate towards men, but he does well with his foster mom. Brogan deserves a good, loving, adventurous life. He is up for most anything as long as you work with him.

Once Brogan feels comfortable, you will find him following you everywhere you go. You will have your own shadow. If this is what you are looking for in a companion dog, he is your guy. If this is how you see yourself as a dog owner, he is your guy.

If you are interested in adopting Brogan please email sln2310@yahoo.com and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.

If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.

Brogan's adoption donation is $300 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
