My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moon Pie is small but mighty, 7 year old long haired chihuahua who weighs about 7 lbs. According to the foster mom- Here are the call outs that make her so wonderful:

1. Total Snugglebug - She loves belly rubs, hugs, kisses, being nuzzled, and just being loved on. She will even offer the gentlest little kisses when she's snuggling. She wants attention and will stare you down with those big, glossy eyes until you melt. She also makes the cutest little grunting noise when she thinks you're not paying attention, and then will roll on her back once you make eye contact. It's hilarious!

2. Generally very quiet - She'll bark if someone is at the door, but that's really it. I've never had to tell her to stop barking. Twice I went looking for her, only to realize she was on the couch next to me.

3. Potty trained - MP is potty trained and uses the training pads like a champ! She will also go potty outside. We had a few mishaps with one of my rugs. However, since I've removed that rug, she's used the training pads consistently.

4. Walks GREAT on a leash - This is one of the reasons (aside from being an attention seeker and inside potty trained) that I think she'd be great with an older/elderly person. She walks either right beside me or a few steps behind me. When she's feeling extra confident, she'll walk just in front of me, but has never pulled on her leash.

5. She listens really well - MP learned her name almost immediately and comes whenever she's called. She's become my shadow and follows me around the house. She makes me feel like a VIP. And she knows to sit for treats. She is a very good girl.

6. Eats well - I was told at the shelter that she was having trouble eating. It took about two days for her to eat out of her own bowl. Prior to that I was hand feeding her as that seemed to be the only way to get her to eat. With that said, I think she was just nervous and/or her mouth was sore. Once she realized she could eat without concern, she was off to the races! She always drank her water really well and continues to do so. (MP gets a 1/4 can of Zignature Trout and Salmon every morning and again in the evening.)

7. Sleeps through the night - I've since moved her little cave next to my bed. She hops right in when told to and stays there all night. I haven't had any issues with her sleeping, thus far.

8. Last but not least... Moon Pie is just so adorable!! Seriously, her face looks just like the Snuggle Bear from the Downy commercials. She's small enough for those that want something tiny, but large enough (solid, I guess is a better word) so that you're not worried about breaking her. Also, she looks bigger than she is because of her fluff.

Moon Pie's adoption donation of $250 helps to cover the the cost of her medical care. Moon Pie is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, she is microchipped, spayed and has had a dental.
