Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Roxy, the sweetest little love bug you could ever hope to welcome into your home! She loves people and is eager to please. As a young dog, she’s still loaded with puppy silliness and clumsiness that makes her foster family laugh every day. She can be a bit of a rascal if she’s bored and looking for stimulation, but she is super smart and very responsive to positive training techniques (it took her only about 10 minutes to learn what this “stay” thing is all about!).
Roxy needs a little time to get to know new people and dogs, but given that time, she bonds closely and is super affectionate with her “pack”. She adores her 11-year-old foster doggie pal; as a sometimes grumpy old guy, he’s needed some convincing that her playfulness is more charming than annoying, but he’s coming around and even plays with her occasionally, which he won’t do with just any pup!
Roxy will thrive in an active home that provides amplel opportunities for exercise and outlets for her puppy energy. During “down time” in the house, she calms down well when her surroundings are calm, and loves to snuggle up close with her human and canine family members. An ideal situation for her will be one in which she has human or canine company most of the time so she won’t get lonely and bored. If you’re looking to add a loving, goofy bundle of spotted cuteness to your family, Roxy’s waiting for you!
If you are interested in adopting Roxy Rae please email catahoularescuene@gmail.com and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Roxy Rae's adoption donation is $400 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
