Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Caramel is the sweetest dog – she’s playful, obedient, friendly, and very laidback indoors (practically a couch potato, though she knows not to go on the furniture). She was abused and starved, weighing only 30 lbs when we first took her in, but now weighs a healthy 65lbs! We are not exactly sure of her age, but she is around 6-7 years old. Cara is housetrained and very flexible schedule-wise (result of having had a college student for a foster mom). After coming to us, Caramel and her foster mom went to weekly obedience training for two years. During that time, she passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen Test and gradated to the advanced level at the dog training school she was attending. Cara is very good at obstacle courses and knows several commands, including sit, down, drop it, leave it, stay, shake, heel, front-sit; she is currently working on learning sit-in-motion, down-in-motion, and commands from a distance. Although Caramel is animal-aggressive and should not be in a home with other animals, she has progressed light-years since being rescued! When in a controlled environment like the training school, she acts like a normal dog, however out in the real world she should never be let off leash or allowed to approach other dogs. Due to her previous abuse, Caramel was protective of her foster mom when she was first rescued, but thanks to training she is now very relaxed and friendly when she meets people – whether in the home or out on a walk. Once someone starts petting her, she’ll stand there forever until they stop!
