My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy post...Email:  mabelsangels@gmail.com

This beautiful baby is Coco. The first picture was taken back when she was at BARCS begging for her life back in 2021. Fast forward to 2024 and she is begging for somewhere to call home again.

Help keep Coco out of the overcrowded shelter!

Coco (4YO FS) is looking for rescue, foster or a furever family. She should ideally be the solo pet in her home as she never learned the proper social cues as a baby, which has caused some run ins with others. She loves adventure, running around and training. She is eager to please, loves to cuddle and is very loyal to her people. She knows over 20 commands and would thrive with someone who would keep her busy. She’s a high energy pup with lots of love to give!! It is advised that she not be placed in a home with younger children as she will knock them over.

If you’re able to help, please reach out!

***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter.April 28, 2024, 5:18 pm

Additional adoption info

An approved application, vet reference, personal reference check and home visit are required to finalize an adoption. We suggest a $200 donation that helps offset some of our expenses such as feeding, boarding, training, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and miscellaneous veterinary costs.
Adoption fees are used to continue to help homeless animals in need!

Go meet their pets

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
