My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Champ is an affectionate and easy-going dog with a typical greyhound's gentle demeanor. He is a happy, well-adjusted dog with a desire to pleaseyou and be a good dog in every way. He is playful and happy and would make an excellent therapy dog to go to nursing homes. He recently came to us after completing his racing career at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg. He is an average size male greyhound at approximately 75 lbs and is 4 years old. He is currently living in a foster home with two small dogs. He does well with all dogs except very small, fluffy type dogs, which he sees as a possible artificial lure and wants to chase them. He does fine with medium to large size dogs, and with small short-haired dogs. Champ is gentle and loving with children, takes everything in stride, rides great in the car, walks quietly on a leash, and is very outgoing. He thinks every person he meets is his new best friend, and will be a dog you could take anywhere and he would do well. Champ is already home acclimated, and has excellent manners. He is also a sort-of guard dog in that he will bark to alert you if he hears noises outside or someone comes to your door. When we picked up Champ from his racing kennel, he had a staph infection which affected his skin. We are treating it with antibiotics, and he should be finished with his treatment by the end of June. If you are looking for a sweet, gentle, and playful dog for your family, Champ may be perfect for you. His adoption fee of $225 includes his neuter, teeth cleaning, all vaccines, 3-yr rabies, microchip, leash and collar, grooming mit, stuffie toy, toothbrush, and tooth gel.
