Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Copper came back to the rescue in February of this year. He had injured himself and was unable to use his back legs. It is not uncommon for this breed and it is known as IVDD (Intervetebral Disc Disease) - Copper needed emergency surgery if there was going to be any chance that he would walk again and Sharon rushed him to Upstate in Greenville where the surgery was done that day - his chances of walking again were not great but he proved everybody wrong and this boy after months of rehab and Sharon taking amazing care of him - Copper is ready for adoption and ready to find a family and a home to call his own. He is 5 years old and weighs 19 pounds. This boy is a total love. We would prefer Copper to go to a home that has experience with the dachshund breed as they are known for back issues. No jumping on and off the furniture is a must. He can do some steps but a house with many steps would not be a great fit for him. All of this is to prevent this from ever happening again. He is a healthy boy that deserves to find the perfect family. We would prefer a home with no small kids and Copper would love to have another doggie companion and one his size would be best. He is not 100% housebroken but going through what he went through and having no control over his bladder hindered things but if taken out on a regular schedule he will potty outside. Amazing and sweet boy that went through a lot the past couple of months but he is so full of life now and it is hard to believe it is the same dog. If you are interested in adopting Copper - please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications. We do require vet references and a home visit. Copper is up to date on vaccines, current on heartworm prevention, dewormed, microchipped, neutered and his adoption fee is $250.00
