Barney is a 7-year-old black and tan Doberman who was hit by a car while being chased by Animal Control. The shelter asked if we could take him – they can’t treat a broken leg and possible internal injuries. Without being pulled by a rescue, he was doomed. Yes, we took him! Our vet examination showed he did break his leg in three places but the clean breaks could be repaired with a splint. He did not have internal injuries as feared but his teeth are worn down from chewing rocks. And through it all, Barney was licking the hands of all who examined him. The sweetest boy!
