My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking at his happy face today, it’s hard to imagine how badly things could have turned out for adorable Brutus. Last year he was found wandering the streets of Pennsylvania with a cardboard sign tied around his neck. The sign read, “I’m a good boy. I just don’t like other animals.” No one knows how long he was out on his own, with nowhere to go and no one to take care of him. Brutus didn’t understand why he was dumped, he just knew he was all alone without a friend in the world. Brutus is a trusting soul who was lucky not to have fallen into the wrong hands. He arrived at the shelter in good spirits and was elated to be among people who showed him affection and reassured him that he was indeed a good boy. Brutus is a sweetheart who loves people and basks in their attention. He is friendly, wears a smile wherever he goes, gives nibble kisses, politely takes treats and offers his spotted pink belly for rubs.

Brutus is favored by everyone for his calm and generally laidback demeanor. He knows sit and has a leisurely pace on leash but pulls when he sees other dogs. He is a strong boy when he pulls, so needs someone who can handle his strength and has the experience to settle him down. He is a good listener and takes direction well. While it’s true he does not like other animals, he is no less worthy of being loved and cherished himself. This chunky hunk is looking for a peaceful home with someone who has experience handling big dogs and can give him low-impact exercise to keep him healthy. He is 7.5 years old and would be perfectly content to live in a home where he can lounge around and be doted upon. Can you give darling Brutus the love, guidance and commitment he deserves? If you can promise Brutus he will never be abandoned again and would like to make him part of your forever family, please come meet him

Brutus is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Brutus will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption.

If you`d like to meet him please visit, we`re conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. We`re open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm.

Brutus can`t wait to meet you!
