My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi… I’m Finch. I’m a one-year-old pit bull mix, and I’ve been living at the shelter for as long as I can remember. I came here when I was just 3 months old. I thought I would only be here a little while… but the months kept passing, and I kept growing, and somehow I’m still here.

My story gets rewritten all the time.
“Finch is hoping to go home this summer.”
“Finch is ready for fall adventures.”
“Finch wants a family for the holidays.”

But each time the words change, I’m still in the same kennel.

I’m a high-energy girl — I know that. I get excited and bounce around because I’ve been waiting my whole life for someone to notice me. I need training and someone experienced who understands dogs like me… someone who knows how to take the lead so I can finally relax and follow. And no little kids under 12 — I’m still learning how to control all this energy in my body.

But I promise you this: once I trust you, I love with my whole entire heart. I lean into you, I wag so hard my whole butt wiggles, and I try so, so hard to be good. I just need someone patient… someone who sees the dog I could be with the right guidance.

Sometimes I wonder:
How many times will my story be rewritten before I finally get a home?

Maybe… maybe this is the last time.
Maybe you’re the person who finally walks through these doors and says my name like it’s meant for me.

I’m ready for my real beginning. I just hope someone out there is ready for me too.
