Idris is one of three puppies that came to the United States all the way from Aruba thanks to Luna Foundation. Luna Foundation is currently working with SAYv Animal Organization to create a Chicago Outpost so dogs can easily be transported to the Chicagoland area.
Idris is a 12-week old puppy (as of 3/23/21) looking for his forever home! Idris is a “Cunucu” which is an island breed. He will most likely be medium-sized 40lbs – 60lbs, but it is not always known for certain. Cunucus are active, intelligent dogs, so he will need a family that is active. We also prefer that he goes to a family with a single-family home (and not a condo) because he screams in his cage and we wouldn’t want his new family to make enemies in their building! We are working on the crate training as best we can. Because he is so young, Idris is still not potty trained but he’s making good progress.
Adding a puppy to a family is a big commitment and we’d like to have adopters that understand the commitment that comes with it. This includes a commitment to attending training with their newest family member. Idris cannot go to a home where he’d have to be alone for extended periods of time while he’s still a baby.
Idris is currently in a foster home with two other dogs that he loves, and he has interacted with children (on a limited basis) without any issues. Just because puppies are friendly with kids and dogs doesn’t mean they’ll be that way as adult dogs, but we’d say his chances are pretty good in that department.
Idris is too young to be neutered, but his adopters will have to sign a contract agreeing to get him neutered when we say it’s time.
Every family member will have to be interviewed before we can approve an adopter. Please be patient while we go through applications.
