My story

PLEASE READ: Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable dogs! All dogs listed are still available. If interested, please complete our no obligation application. This can be found at www.waldosmuttleycrew.org. Select the Applications tab, then Adoption Application. THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS. It can take up to a week to process an application. We are an all-volunteer rescue so please be patient.

Our adoption area is limited to a 4 hour radius of Indianapolis. We try our best to provide all information in our bios. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask during the interview process. Some of our dogs have special requirements such as needs another dog in the home or requires a physical and permanent fenced yard. These requirements are not negotiable. Unless otherwise noted, we do not cat test our adoptable dogs. We also require that all pets in your household be spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and on a monthly heartworm/flea preventative.

E-MAILS: We do not respond to e-mail inquiries without an application. We regret that we cannot respond to every e-mail unless you fill out an application.

All the dogs we offer for adoption have been spayed/neutered, wormed and microchipped, are up-to-date on immunizations, have been tested for heartworm and are currently receiving a monthly preventative. If the dog had additional medical issues, those have also been addressed. Visit our website www.waldosmuttleycrew.org for more information and to complete an application.

Two year old lab/husky mix Luther is ready for his "furever home" along with his best friend & soul mate, Dorothy! This pair had a pretty rough time in their past. They were confiscated from a drug house along with over 50 other dogs during a police raid. When we got them, they had to deal with drug withdrawal along with PTSD related to abuse & undersocialization. They have both come so very far. Luther now lets most people pet and cuddle with him; Dorothy still has trust issues but, given time & lots of peanut butter, she is now climbing in laps. Once Dorothy learns that you are safe, she just can't get enough attention and will stay in your lap for hours, snuggled up as close as she can get. This pair is also the source of much laughter for us as their antics during play are hilarious. Both are so mischievous! Dorothy delights in high speed chases and is incredibly fast; once she tires, Luther will pounce on her and they wrestle & play tug of war. They will need a large fenced in yard so that they can play & explore - two things they never got to do in their previous life. Dorothy & Luther are too scared to be in a home with children as they still have trust issues; they need calm, patient parents who will be able to give them all the love & attention they crave so that they can thrive & continue to learn that the world and people are safe.

The adoption fee for this pair is $375; they are spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm/flea prevention. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org . (Indianapolis area)

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees generally range from $100-$250. We require completion of an application after which we proceed with a verbal interview, make personal and veterinary reference checks, then conduct a home visit to verify that the home is pet-friendly and safe. Upon approval of an application, we require the signing of an adoption agreement contract which specifies that appropriate care will be taken of the animal in question as well as requiring return of the pet to the organization if the adopters are unable to keep it at some point in the future.

Go meet their pets

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application. You can find that application on our website -- www.waldosmuttleycrew.org -- click on "Applications", then "Adoption Application". This is no way obligates you to adopt, but it helps to determine if a particular rescue would be a good fit for your family.

More about this rescue

We are a group of people who, first and foremost, love animals and want to assist dogs & cats in need. We attempt to educate people concerning appropriate pet care as well as the importance of spay/neuter in order to address the severe over-population of these animals in the U.S.
