My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Demi!

Demi is a 6-year-old Retriever /Lab Mix that weighs about 40-pounds at full growth!

Demi is known as our resident `Fly Girl`! She has a sweet personality, gorgeous brown eyes, a silky dark coat, a shorter stature with a medium built frame, and who is amazingly athletic! She would love to find someone loves the outdoors, loves to go on hikes or adventures, and who loves playing in streams or ponds when she has a chance! Her favorite pastime, of course, is playing catch! You can bounce the ball, toss it, throw it, and Demi will be right there to catch it or even leap for it. Can you tell she REALLY likes fetch?!

Demi`s ideal match would be an active person or couple who likes to go on adventures and spend time outdoors. While kids and dogs are cute, for her they are much cuter from a distance and are too much for her to be around, so a home without resident or visiting children and other dogs would be best suited for her. She would love to be your only sidekick! Because of her activity level and her not getting along well with other dogs, she would need to have a home with a fenced in yard, so she can race around in the safety of her own home and of course, play ball with you!

Demi is quite smart and knows lots of basic commands such as `sit`, `shake`, `lay down`, and `stay`. With her being treat motivated, teaching her new tricks should be a breeze, especially if you have Banana as that is her most favorite treat! She is also housetrained and quite the lady in a home. Demi would love to show you the kind of cuddle expert she can be and if given the opportunity to be on the couch at the end of the day, it would be her number one requirement.

Demi is ready to find her forever family. If you are interested in knowing more about Demi, please fill out an adoption application or call to schedule a time to meet with her! Some information may change overtime, as we get to know her better.

More about this rescue

AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport, Inc. is a 501(c)3, non-profit animal welfare organization based in Adel, Iowa. In addition to caring for our local strays, we are working to bridge the gap between traditional animal shelters and no-kill rescues in 2 different ways: 1) By providing free transportation for dogs and cats from traditional shelters to no-kill rescues all over the Midwest and Canada. We also provide overnight rest stops for our furry travelers and temporary housing for those whose time has run out at the shelters, but have to wait for a foster spot to open up in one of the rescues; 2) By pulling as many dogs out of traditional shelters that are on death row and placing them in foster homes and forever homes thru our organization.
