My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mara is a pretty calico kitty who was part of BIG group of orphaned kittens - nearly 20 total!! - that transferred into the Goathouse from a fellow rescue in Wilson, NC. Sadly, many of the kittens in this group fell ill with panleukopenia and didn’t make it, but Mara was one of the lucky survivors. Mara can be shy around new people, which is likely why she’s been overlooked by potential adopters. She would love nothing more than to find a quiet home with a cat-savvy caretaker willing to give her ample time to bloom at her own pace. We just know the right family is out there for sweet Mara!

More about this rescue

Siglinda Scarpa is a potter and a sculpter who owns 3 acres of fenced-in property in which she houses up to 258 homeless cats. The Refuge is a sanctuary for these cats, who never have to leave, but if they are adoptable, the cats are posted on our website and taken to adoption events in the community. The more cats that we find homes for, the more cats we can rescue.
