Nala was surrendered by her owner to Chi Town Rescue on 10/29. The past owner noted on her surrender form that they were surrendering her due to marital issues and because they were not able to train her not to bark constantly. When Nala was brought to us, her body had been shaved which we found strange….the explanation was that they didn’t want her to shed. Nala was scared initially but has now come out of her shell. She really likes playing with Bubba (our bulldog) and prefers to lounge in her crate (we leave the door open to the crate). She likes to enjoy her treats and sleep in her crate. When Nala was spayed this past week, the veterinarian noted she had, “Hydrometra (fluid filled uterus); precursor to a potentially fatal pyometra (uterine infection)”. Nala does appear to have had at least one litter in the past. Thankfully we were able to have her spayed quickly and although she had some discomfort after spay, we avoided the potential deadly infection. Nala does bark when she’s excited initially and she can be a “talker”, however, the barking ceases once she’s calmed down. Nala needs a family that will consider her a permanent member, care for her come good or bad and love her unconditionally.
Nala is approximately 2 years old. She is bigger than the rescue's typical chi. She weighs approximately 18lbs so she is the perfect “not too small not too big” size.
If you would like to meet Nala, please contact Chi Town Rescue for a meet and greet appointment.
