My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ATHENA

❤️ ATHENA wants to tell you about herself...
*I really, really want a Forever Home sooo badly!!!
*I really love people and gentle kids!
*I enjoy car rides, and walks to sharpen my sniffing skills!
*I like to chase my toys around the backyard.
*I'm a pretty good sleeper, and I know how these commands: sit, stay, wait, shake, and out (drop whatever is in my mouth)!
*I'm housebroken!
*I love my belly and butt rubbed and gentle hugs.
*I get scared when people raise their voice to me, and I like kind and gentle people (who doesn't?).
*You don't have to worry about me chewing up stuff in your house like puppies do, because I'm a smart & grown up dog!
*The people who rescued me love me so much the they got me an awesome heart pacemaker and everybody thinks it's so cool! I am healthy and happy now! I have more energy too, and I'm very playful! I hope to find a person or family to love me, that I can share my life and love with!
Athena has a sweetness that is so endearing. She brings a smile to your face. She is so loving, easy, and grateful for attention! Athena is 8-years-young and wears her years with grace. She still has plenty of fun and playfulness to make you laugh when she throws her toy around and chases after it. And then Athena comes over for a snuggle and loves to just hang out while you read, and she chews on a bully stick (her favorite chew). Athena is a really good friend and companion, and she would love to be your “one and only.”
Athena is ready for a forever home where she can have a soft, warm place to sleep and snuggle up with her human.
Athena is spayed, microchipped and UTD with shots.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer, 501c3 non profit animal rescue group working to save animals from high kill Southern California shelters such as the Camarillo shelter. We give abandoned animals a safe permanent home through networking, adoption events and transporting animals to reputable 501c3 rescues. We have a strong focus on the most at risk for death row breeds; pit bulls and chihuahas. We advocate for animal welfare, affordable spay and neuter programs and ending backyard breeding. Through community education we hope to restore the positive image of the American Pit Bull Terrier as the loving family dog it truly is. We depend completely on charitable donations to support our work. Donations are needed to cover pull fees to get animals out of the shelter, temporary boarding fees, transport and vet costs. We support the NO KILL platform and dream of the day when all shelters will be NO KILL.
