My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

He originally came to us as a stray and was never claimed.  Yukon seems to prefer being outside compared to being stuck inside and does great with livestock.  He was previously adopted to guard goats but after about a week in a half he started to guard the goats from the other dogs on the property of which lived in the home while he stayed outside. He attacked one of the indoor dogs when he got too close to the goats. The dog was ok but it shook the adopters up pretty good so they returned him.  When a gentleman and his wife fostered him for about a week to be a family companion they ended up returning him after a few days because he has horrible anxiety when left in the home alone while they were at work but they couldn’t leave him in the fenced yard because he could climb out. They had another dog who was a male and they did fine together in the home and only had was quick tiff over a dog bed that they both wanted to lay on. Yukon might do best in a home with female dogs.

He's a real working dog with the temperament one would expect in a livestock guarding dog.  He's been good with humans, but the guarding tendencies came out when he was in a situation where the other dogs were perceived as a threat to the "flock."  As long as the home allows him to choose what he wants, and takes management seriously enough to not allow Yukon access to stranger dogs, he'd be great. Yukon takes his job seriously!  He was bred to guard livestock, and by golly, that's what he wants to do.  He has been fine with strangers thus far, but when you have a dog genetically predisposed to "guarding" there should be no surprises when he guards.

Yukon needs a loving foster/forever home that will keep his needs in mind and either give him a job OR give him plenty of space outdoors (which he loves!).
