Pooka Summary:
Pooka is an 11-week old female mix breed. She weighs around 16lbs right now. We are unsure how big she will get, but her new family should be prepared that she could top out anywhere in the 50-90lb range. She is good with other dogs, cats, and kids. She will need an active family, that has another playful dog OR is home all the time and has lots of walking/hiking trails around them. She is NOT a candidate for apartment living. She will need a family that is okay working with her on potty training and is prepared for everything that comes with having an energetic puppy.
-------------------------------------------

I will never understand. How can one welcome someone to their family and then just abandon them? Just let them sit in the shelter? Exposed to all sorts of diseases, and even at risk of losing their life? Whatever happened to commitment? Whatever happened to loyalty? Pooka is a result of someone bringing her home because she is so DARN cute and then realizing they were not ready for the responsibility. Instead of ensuring she ended up somewhere safe, she ended up in the shelter. She spent a few weeks there before we found out about her and welcomed her to our fluffy butt. She deserved so much better, and it is so sad to know that at such a young age someone already failed her.

In the end, it worked out. We now have a new family member and she now has the chance to find a forever family. One that will love her to the moon and back as she deserves!

Why adoption is a great option

Pooka, a Tulsa Great Pyrenees dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Pyrenees for sale in Tulsa, or seeking a Great Pyrenees dog from a breeder in Tulsa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tulsa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tulsa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Pyrenees breeders who help with Great Pyrenees rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tulsa paves the way for another one to be saved.
