My story

Braulio is an American pit bull terrier mix about 6 years old whose owner suddenly passed away. He's more reserved but loyal, and curious to explore his world.

He came from a house with his bonded friend, Ava, and a senior cat named LT. Ava and Braulio are best friends and need a home together. They're house-trained, fixed, and vaccinated. They know the phrases "sit" and "go out." Both are friendly with other dogs and new people and have lived with a cat.

Ava is a Dalmatian-pit bull cross about 8 years old. She's affectionate, outgoing, and low-energy. She loves getting lots of petting, meeting new people, an occasional walk, and crawling into a "den," like a crate or the space under the table for a snooze.

Braulio will join Ava in a crate for a long nap but has more energy to burn off with a good walk or backyard romp. He's very smart and figured out how to unlatch one type of crate gate. They love each other and are ready to love their new humans, too.

If you are interested in learning more about Ava & Braulio, please submit a foster/adopt application found here: https://www.sandovalcountynm.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/FosterAdoptApplication.pdf and send that to sandovalpets@sandovalcountynm.gov or call 505-867-7642 and leave a message for any questions.

Why adoption is a great option

Braulio, a Bernalillo American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Bernalillo, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Bernalillo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bernalillo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bernalillo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bernalillo paves the way for another one to be saved.
