Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Aggressive (lunges, bites, etc), Nervous
Favorite treats: Mealworms, mandarin oranges
Favorite toys and activities: Menorah is a shy girl still getting used to her new surroundings. She enjoys snuggling in her bed with strips of fleece and running on her wheel.
Potty trained: No
This animal’s daily routine: Mealtime is at 9-10 pm and she greets me at the cage door. Most active hours are around 11 pm and 6-7 am.
BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Yes, Menorah is boned to Dreidel, and must be adopted together.
Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: None
Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None
Health concerns: Menorah has some slight balding on her head from over-grooming before entering the rescue. She has since started growing this hair back.
Behavioral concerns: Menorah is in our trust training program. Her foster allows her to come to him and sniff his hand rather than picking her up. She has reduced her finger biting by about 20-30% so far. When he needs to pick her up to weigh her or trim nails, he wears protective gloves so that if she bites he will not drop or react -- this would only reinforce the biting behavior.
Other notes: She is an older lady and does prefer to sleep most of the time. We are hoping to improve her friendliness with time and care now that she is bonded.
Dreidel & Menorah came to MNPPR after their previous owner felt they needed better care and more attention.
Due to our rescue being foster based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Menorah’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Maplewood Petsmart - 2370 White Bear Ave N, Maplewood, MN 55109 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
Fee: Dreidel & Menorah have a combined adoption fee of $275
