My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ruby! She is a female long hair
Chihuahua mix weighing approx. 10 lbs. Ruby has a skin condition called Cutaneous Vasculitis that is easily treated with 5 mg. Prednisone twice a day. She still may have some sores and hair loss throughout her life.

Ruby does great in the car, is leash trained, kennel trained and house broken using the doggie door in her foster home.

Here are things that Ruby loves: having her belly and ears scratched, being with her people and treats!
Here are things she’s not a fan of: having her paws touched as her pads sometimes become sore and sudden movements that can spook her. Ruby is still learning to trust as she was not well cared for in her past and can be selective with who holds her. She will nip if frightened or uncertain about what’s happening-it’s all for show and doesn’t break skin, it’s just a warning. For this reason we are seeking a home with children over age 8 who can understand her need for time and space.

Ruby gets along with the laid back older male dogs in her foster home, she can be a bit of a bossy diva-so a home without another female might be best. She seems non reactive to cats and kittens.

Overall though her foster mom describes her at a happy and loving pup who wants nothing more than a home of her very own. Ruby may have had a rough start, but she deserves a happily ever after and we know the perfect home for her is out there!
