Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix
Age: 6 months (April1st)
Weight: 20 lbs
Medical: Up-To-Date on Vaccinations, microchipped
Cat Friendly: Curious, but doesn’t bother them once introduced
Dog Friendly: Yes, after slow introductions
Kid Friendly: (Of course depends on the kid) but she hangs out with our 4 yr old granddaughter. She just moves when she has had enough. 😊
House Trained: Yes, but still has accidents in the house, however when that happens she always goes on her puppy pads. She will tinkle when she gets too excited, regardless of where she is.
Crate Trained: Yes
Location: Pennsylvania
Roo is a very chill, velcro puppy. She loves her people. She loves to cuddle and be the center of attention as long as that includes cuddles, kisses and words of affirmation, She loves pup cups and peanut butter filled kongs when she is not being loved on. She understands when her people are busy and happy to lay in the vicinity until someone has time to curl up on the couch or chair where she will join (typically before they can even sit down), It’s like she has a sixth sense about when and where someone is headed to unwind and she is three steps ahead of them and waiting when they get there.
She has an arsenal of toys that she keeps a close eye on, lol. She likes to drag them out and show them off and she makes sure that when mama picks them up, they go right back where they belong so shenanigan’s can continue. She even has a few favorites, namely her blue binky. She is learning ‘sit’ and does good with it but wants no part of ‘stay’ yet. If you move, she moves. She loves walks and does very well on the leash. She recognizes her harness and her sweatshirt and she gets excited when she sees either. On walks, she will stop and assess any new things or noises and sometimes she will offer a low growl or a quick bark just to let them know she is there.
Although she is more chill than any other pup I’ve met, as her comfort and confidence levels rise, she does show more of that playful puppy energy that you would expect. Little bouts of zoomies, excited jumping, and a licker that she sometimes struggles to control. Touch is her love language for sure!
She doesn’t love car rides but adjusts pretty quickly once you get going. She is not a fan of running water; bath time exhausts us both. Lol. Still water may be a different story. She is crate trained and although not her favorite thing during daytime hours, she loves her bedtime crate. She will go in without being prompted and takes her sweet time getting out in the mornings…lol
From a foster mama who tends to be drawn to older dogs, she is a puppy and it wasn’t supposed to go like this. She surprised us in the best ways possible. I wish I could better explain it but this one… this one gets ya! My wish for all foster babies is the perfect forever home… my wish for her is all that and maybe even a little bit more! SHE TRULY IS THAT UNFORGETTABLE PUP!
If you are interested in adopting Roo, visit our website and download the application: http://www.nehoularescue.com/adoption-application.html Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Roo’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, and microchip. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
Based on her age, Roo is not spayed and will be adopted with a Spay/Neuter Agreement.
