Meet McDuff!  https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TJ9Od060owg

Born around June 2021, this playful, happy pup is Great Pyrenees mixed with possibly Golden Retriever.  He is tall, long, and slender at 80 pounds.  He will likely fill out to around 90-100 pounds when he reaches full adulthood.

McDuff love, loves kids!  He is gentle with all of them.  He loves leaning into you when he wants a hug.

He loves to run and play outside.  So, he would do best with a backyard with lots of green grass and a fence.  He has never tried to escape.

He gets along well with person and dog at the dog park and is very popular.   He loves the sprinklers at the dog water park as well.

He sits quickly for treats and takes them very gently.  He does NOT counter surf or beg at the dinner table.  He sits nicely at his bowl and waits for his dinner to be served.  He does not make a mess at mealtime.

He loves his strong well-made toy and will entertain himself with them.  He will destroy stuffed animals he thinks are his.  He loves to chew on dog bones and has never chewed on household/clothing items.

He loves to ride in the car and is very well-behaved.  He walks well on leash after he calms down in a block or two.

He barks at squirrels outside, but only barks when other dogs are barking or when squirrels are misbehaving.   He would like another big dog in the home to run and play with.  He is good with small dogs, but has not been around cats.

McDuff (originally named Gordon) was found wandering the streets when he was about 4-5 months of age.  He was noted to have a mild leg deformity so SPIN rescued him from the shelter.  He was seen by an orthopedic vet and diagnosed with a leg condition called "cow hocked."  It does not require surgery.  His hocks (ankles) almost touch when he stands or walks; this makes his gait a little different.  But it just adds to his silly personality.  He back legs are just a little weak, so he rarely jumps up on people or furniture.  He can run fast, because the deformity doesn't bother him at all.  He has never displayed any leg pain or a limp.

He took a little time to potty train since those parts were a little weak too.  He can make it eight hours overnight without needing to potty outside as long as he potties before bedtime.  During the day he needs to potty outside every 3-4 hours.  The orthopedic vet has recommended some supplements for his joint health, but otherwise he has no special needs.

McDuff will make a wonderful addition to any family.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
