My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chester's Story
-Written by Chester, the 2-year-old, 75lb male Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix.
---------------------------------------------

I was tasked with watching over the outside animals. I didn't get a say in it. I was a Great Pyrenees and that is what I was "meant" to do. It didn't matter that I would have rather been with my people. It didn't matter that I wasn't cut out for the guardian life. The only shining light was my friend, Tessa. We would get into so many shennagigans together and she made life so much more fun. She was like me...she wanted more. She wanted a family. One day we were feeling extra adventurous and decided to leave our "guard". We went on an adventure. It was so freeing to just be running on our own through the countryside. We were having a blast. Reality soon set in though. There were dangerous roads to cross with cars speeding by. There were fences with sharp wire that we had to pass through. When nighttime came, we heard coyotes out on the hunt, owls hooting, and somehow everything seemed so much scarier than when we were home. We had actually decided to go back home, but we had no idea where home was anymore. So, we ended up roaming with no clear destination in place. Finally, we were found but it wasn't by our owners. We were so excited to see a human again that we ran right up to them anyways to say hello. They loaded us up in the car, and tooks us to what you guys call a shelter.

We were worried that our owner would me mad about us running off but at least we knew he would be coming for us....except no one ever did. We served our stray hold and turns out no one was looking for us. No one was coming for us. We tried not to fret about it too much, but has time went by and the shelter got fuller and fuller we started to get nervous. Then, one day someone looked at us and fell in love with Tessa. They decided to bring her home, and I can only hope she finally found the family she had been dreaming of. The family that would love and spoil her like she always wanted. Once she left, it started to set in that I was now truly alone. My home was gone. My friend was gone. And I was all alone in the shelter. I ended up sitting in the shelter for almost a full month before something finally changed. What I didn't know is that this rescue had been trying to find my a foster family for me all this time(fostering saves lives folks!) and finally someone opened up and was able to take me!

When my foster family came for me, I acted like I had known them for forever! I was so happy that I ran right up to them and said hello. I have absolutely no reservations about meeting new people and will run right up to them and give kisses. I don't jump on people out of excitement and am pretty well-tempered. However, if you allow me to I may give you a hug! <3 When my foster family brought me home, I immeditely settled in. I was so happy to finally be out of the shelter and with people again. I learned how to use the doggie door in record time and am fully potty trained. I tried the whole kennel thing and lets just say that I managed to escape it. I am not built to be behind bars and absolutely hated it. Luckily, this shouldn't be an issue because my house manners are superb! I have only chewed on my toys so far, and especially like those bones that used to have stuff in them. Man, those are yummy! My foster family allows me to have free roam of the house when they are away and I do PYRfect! They do close the doors to the other rooms of the house though so I can't be tempted to possibly get into something. At night, I can sleep anywhere in the house that I want. And every night I choose to sleep on the floor by my foster mom's side of the bed.

I am a pretty calm guy. I love to hang out in the living room with my family and just enjoy being near people again. I do like to play with toys sometimes, and will go pick one out and plop down with it. I will sometimes engage in a game of fetch with my foster family but only for a little bit. I have not had the chance to go swimming, so I cannot say if I would like it or not. I guess that is something you and I will have to figure out together on one of our upcoming adventures! ;) Speaking of adventures, I enjoy going for walks and would enjoy going on a hike with my new family. By the way, I may be a big boy but I do excellent on a leash and don't pull!

You already know that I absolutely adore humans of any kind. In fact, I am being fostered around kids age 7&9 and do excellent with them. I am a BIG boy and while I try to be gentle with the kiddos, may be a bit much for the smaller kiddos. If I do something wrong, I will inch my way closer to you and first lie my head on your shoulder and then slowly climb into your lap. I may not be perfect, but I am really good at making it up to you! While I usually only have eyes for my people, I am good with other dogs. For the most part, I am indifferent to them. If my owners are busy, I may occassionally engage in a game of play with them. I wish I could tell you how I am with cats but I have never met one. I am a pretty chill dude so as long as the cat is nice, I don't think we would have any issues living together. Oh, that reminds! While I don't believe that I would mind having a cat for a roommate I do ask that our living quarters have a large yard attached to them. I love getting to play and romp around outside, and just don't think I would be happy cooped up in an apartment all day. I have always had an adventurous heart so will need a 6ft privacy fence or taller in my new home. I am going to let you right now that singing has never been my thing! I suck at it, so am definitely not a vocal boy. I may bark if I hear something out of the norm but other than that am a pretty quiet guy.

I am not only looking for a home, but I am looking for my forever home. I don't ever want to be with a family again that won't come looking for me if I get lost. I still cannot believe that my former owner never tried to find me.....I am willing to give you my all and my only request is you do the same. If you adopt me, we are in it for the long haul. And if you ever you get lost you can bet that I will always bring you back! <3

If you are ready to take the next step towards our happily ever after, then please apply to adopt me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once you have submitted your application, it will be sent on to my foster family for consideration.

I am currently residing in Claremore, OK.
I am always up for an adventure and am not opposed to traveling out of state with my new family. I must warn you that I am not the biggest fan of getting into the car, it makes me nervous. Once I am in the car though, I ride really well!

My adoption fee is $250.
That will include my DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
