My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Austyn's Story
-By Austyn, a 6-month-old, 32lb female Rough Collie mix.
--------------------------------------------

I was the puppy that everyone fell in love with. I had such pretty markings, such a Collie nose, and the cutest ears. As I grew up, my personality started to show and it was so amazing that my family wanted to train me as an emotional support animal. From the time I was born, my owners doted on me more than my siblings and I watched them start to get adopted. Pretty soon, it was just my brother Bundy and I. They were planning on keeping me but were looking to rehome Bundy. Potential families kept falling through for my brother though. In the meantime, I was being paid the most attention to since I was the one that they planned to keep. I was the more outgoing one, and my brother the shyer one. I was always in the spotlight, so I was usually the one who got more attention...more inside time...more training...more food. For me, things were amazing. As it turns out though, they were not my forever family. Their landlord told them that I was going to be too big and that I had to go..along with my brother. My family ended up surrendering my brother and me to this rescue.

Upon entering my foster family, I settled in quickly. I picked up on the flow of things, figured out how to climb on the couch for cuddles, and befriended the other dogs. I am the kind of girl that adjusts very easily. I am good about picking up on cues from both the other animals and humans in my home and adjust my energy level accordingly. Like most puppies, I do enjoy a good play session with the other dogs. If they are not up for playing, I will play with my toys. My favorite toys are stuffed toys! I, especially, like pulling all the stuffing out of them. Afterward, it looks like it snowed....how cool is that?! For the most part, I am on the calmer side for a puppy. I know, crazy right?! I do tend to spend most of my day snoozing or cuddling with my family.

I am still working on my leash training and while I have not been on any walks yet...believe I would like them. I have such a good and well-mannered personality, you could easily take me with you when you go out. I am good with everyone I meet...people and dogs alike and am not jumping all over the place. This makes me believe that I would also do well on hikes. Now, remember, I am not an energetic dog so probably wouldn't want to do them every day. And while they impress me, I could never make it as a dog that runs, bikes, or jogs. I am SO not about that life! I have not had the chance to go swimming, so am unsure if I would be the dog that swims after you or watches you from the nice dry land.

I may be a puppy but my house manners are pretty good already. I am almost potty trained as long as I have a set routine and am let out often. I am not a big chewer, but since I am young my house should definitely be puppy-proofed. If you leave a shoe lying, I make no promises about what may or may not happen to it! I am given free roam of the house with the other dogs when my foster family is away and do well. Since I can be trusted to free roam, I am not kennel trained. At night, I usually sleep downstairs but would love it if I got to sleep in the bedroom with my new family. I know some people cannot handle a dog that yaps all day long...and the good news is I am the same way! I am a quiet girl and have yet to bark in my foster home! I have a really good temperament and believe that I would do well in an apartment setting. I am still young though, so please make sure you have a good exercise plan in place for me, a good potty schedule, and be ready to continue working with me on my leash training!

Since the time I was young, people have always fallen in love with me. First with my looks and then with my personality. I know that many people will want me, but I am not interested in playing any games. If you apply to adopt me, be 100% sure. Don't apply and get my hopes up, then decide at the last minute that maybe you aren't ready. I try to be the best girl I can possibly be every day, but please know that while I sound perfect...I am still a puppy. Please don't bring me home, and then once I am older return me because life changed or I did something wrong. I want a family who is going to love me forever. A family that will welcome me with open arms and then never let me go! I am a FOREVER girl, not a UNTIL girl.

Think you are the family for me? Then, make it official! Get your application in to adopt me at
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once you have submitted your application, it will be sent on to my foster family for consideration.

I am being fostered in Kiowa, OK but please don't worry if you are out of state. I am okay with traveling. Now, I may be a little nervous about getting in the car...but once in I ride well. So, make the jump and let us start our happily ever after with an epic road trip together!

My adoption fee is $250.00.

That will include my DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention
